PROJECT CONSTRAINTS

  • project scope

    • the work that must be done; criteria agreed upon at the start of the project
     
  • cost

    • the amount that the customer has agreed to pay for labor, materials, fees, etc. to see the project to completion
     
  • schedule

    • the timetable that specifies when each activity should start and finish
     
  • customer satisfaction

    • what the customer expected minus what was received

PROJECT LIFE CYCLE

  1. identify a needs, problems, or opportunities

    2. e.g., customer develops a request for proposals (RFP)
     
  2. develop a proposed solution

    3. e.g., submitted proposals are evaluated; contract signed with selected contractor
     
  3. perform the project

    4. detailed planning and completion of project
     
  4. terminate the project

    5. collect all payments, pay all invoices, evaluate performance, ensure customer satisfaction, etc.
